Chances are, you may have bumped into a blog post I previously wrote, called “Questions to Ask Your Social Media Manager.

In the wise words of Michael Scott, “Well, well, well...how the turn tables.” (Or, if you prefer, “Oh, how the tables have turned”…said in the voice of Joe Jonas.)

Anyway, I digress. Now I’m speaking to my Social Media Manager friends.

Are you taking on new clients? Nervous on how to establish that initial relationship? Want to ensure you understand what makes their brand tick and craft the perfect strategy tailored to their needs?

Here are questions you can ask your potential social media clients to kick off the beginning of a beautiful collaboration.

(Or if you’re reading this as someone hiring for social media services, try to see if you can answer these questions for yourself! That way, you can be more proactive in telling your social media manager what you need to succeed.)

Questions to Ask Your Potential Social Media Clients

  1. What is your ultimate goal for your social accounts?

  2. What is your brand or company’s main objective? What is your mission/what are your values?

  3. Do you have an idea of how social media marketing’s role in your growth plan?

3a. What is your allotted budget for social media marketing?

3b. What social media platforms are you focusing on?

3c. What are your main methods to engage with your audience?

  4. Describe your brand to me in two sentences.

4a. What is your brand voice and tone? How do you speak to your audience?

4b. What sets you apart from your competitors? What’s your differentiator that we can tap into?

If your conversation is on the tighter side time-wise, pick three or four you think would be most beneficial for you and your client. :) Take the time to thoughtfully get to know your them — it’s your duty to authentically represent them and help them amplify their best selves.

Stay Joyful,
